Despite its falling audiences, the US show took the Golden Rose award for best series at the Rose d’Or Festival, which dishes out Europe’s most prestigious TV honours.
Aired on the BBC, the period drama starred Christina Ricci, Margot Robbie, Karine Vanasse and Kelli Garner and followed the lives of air stewardesses in the 1960s working for the iconic US airline.
BBC show Top Gear, which is aired in 198 countries around the world, was also rewarded for its global success at the event in Switzerland.
Collecting the Honorary Rose Award in Lucerne, Jeremy Clarkson joked: ‘Approximately seven million cars had to be destroyed to win this award.’
Clarkson – who hosts the car show with Richard Hammond and James May – added: ‘This is the best job in the world and I hope I can do it forever.’
Other British winners included Friday Night Dinner which picked up the award for best sitcom.
Million Pound Drop was named best gameshow and Horrible Histories won the award for children’s television.
Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror: National Anthem was named best comedy and The Great British Bake Off was named best lifestyle show.
